Motor failures are expensive. There's the cost of replacing or repairing a motor and there's also the cost of downtime when your system is sitting idle. The good news is that electric motor protection isn't expensive or hard to configure.
Because electric motors commonly pull up to 6X the nameplate amp rating at startup, fuses and circuit breakers aren't the recommended protection device. Overload relays are the proper motor protection device for electric motors.
